Spicy Paprika Margarita Salt

Spicy Paprika Margarita Salt

When we were in Guatemala we had the best margaritas at a place called Cactus.  The salt on the rim of the was AMAZING. (Those of you that know me know I love my salt) It was spicy, thick and not too salty.  I was determined to recreate it.   My brother was convinced it was mostly paprika, which is one of my favorite spaces!

I think I have it down, but I’d love to hear your thoughts and modifications!

Spicy Paprika Margarita Salt

  • ½ cup table salt
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 2.5 tsp chili powder
  • Optional: 1 tsp lime salt (if you live by a specialty Hispanic food store.  Lucky for me, they’re everywhere here!)

Yield: ½ pint

Steps:

  • Add ingredients into mason jar
  • Put the lid on and shake, shake, shake!
  • Sprinkle thin layer on plate
  • Use a lime wedge to wet rim of glass
  • Move rim of glass over the salt until covered
  • Garnish glass with lime

Don’t forget to fill with your favorite margarita!

Fill ½ pint mason jar and share with your friends!
